Glenormiston Bartley
2005 Grey Stallion (Castle Baron x Glenormiston Fionnuala by Abbeyleix Finbar)
HWSD Status: N/N
Registration: #203
Asham Connemaras and Sporthorses purchased our foundation stallion Glenormiston Bartley from Brooke Allan in 2010. We were looking for a son of Castle Baron and Bart struck us as an outstanding type with a blue blooded pedigree.
Glenormiston Bartley‘s sire, Castle Baron was known as the ‘King of Connemaras’ in Australia and is still one of the leading sires of Connemara performance ponies in this part of the world. His blue blooded pedigree carries the famous Village lines and is littered with Clifden Winners. Castle Baron himself was a pony that exuded quality with wonderful bone and an exceptional temperament and he has had progeny competing in every state of Australia as well as New Zealand, Germany and the USA.
Bart’s dam, Glenormiston Fionnuala is a lovely mare who had a hugely successful show career as well as becoming a prolific broodmare. She has a stallion son and a daughter in the USA as well as Glenormiston Bartley in Australia. Her daughter Glenormiston Nessa, Glenormiston Bartley’s full sister, was awarded Champion Connemara at the National Stud Horse and Pony Show for two years running.
Some of Bart’s led championships include, 2008 Supreme Champion Connemara Brisbane Royal, 2009 Champion Connemara National Stud Horse & Pony Show SIEC, 2009 Champion Connemara & Supreme Native Pony APSB Sydney Regional Show and 2009 Welsh Pony & Cob Society Annual Youngstock Champion Connemara & Champion Mountain and Moorland.
Glenormiston Bartley covered a few mares prior to standing at Asham Connemaras & Sporthorses. In August 2012 we purchased Bartley’s first foal, a Thoroughbred cross, Highlands Mr Henrysee bred by Highlands Stud. Highlands Mr Henrysee excelled in both Showjumping and Eventing and was the 2015 National Performance Sporthorse Winner in the CPBSA Awards as well as the NSW PCA State Champion Eventer. Glenormiston Bartley has gone on to produce so many great performance horses and his reputation as a sire of both purebred and Connemara Sporthorses is held in extremely high regard. We feel privileged to have shared his journey and will be forever indebted to this magnificent pony for the legacy he has created that will continue on for generations here at Asham Connemaras & Sporthorses!
